The Role As a Data Engineer - Content Production & Promotion (L5) at Netflix, you will be responsible for designing and implementing foundational data models that enable a range of analytical capabilities, from insights to predictive models. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, model tables using data warehouse best practices, and develop data pipelines to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data. Key Responsibilities: Fully own critical portions of the Content Production data model and collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and develop data pipelines. Digitize established production processes that have been built in a bespoke way to meet more widely used team practices. Continually acquire new data sources to develop an increasingly rich dataset that characterizes content. Creatively explore how to use data to continually add value to Netflix and translate data questions into flexible methodologies that scale to answer broad problems across the organization. Partner closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers to identify and ingest data from new sources and systems. About You As a successful candidate, you will have a strong passion for automating complex business processes with elegant solutions. You will be a creative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is not afraid of ambiguity. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to break down complex data problems into clear and concise language, and create code that is understandable, simple, and clean. Essential Qualifications: Deep expertise in data modeling and batch or streaming Spark/Trino data pipeline authoring with the highest regard for data quality. Knowledgeable or passionate about learning more about the film industry, particularly the visual effects process. Lazy in a productive way (find tedious work boring and would rather automate it). Sharp communicator who can break down and explain complex data problems in clear and concise language. Love freedom and hate being micromanaged; given context, you're capable of self-direction. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders. Knowledge of data warehousing best practices and data modeling techniques. Experience with data pipeline authoring tools such as Spark, Trino, or similar technologies. Familiarity with the film industry, particularly the visual effects process. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
