We will contact you as soon as we need more mentor support in this role . The Opportunity:We’re expanding our Data Science Career Track services to support successful outcomes for our students. Are you passionate about data science, programming, and helping curious data science students master fundamental skills that will lead them to great careers? This position may be for you! We are looking for a detail-oriented grader to grade projects and exercises that students complete in an online bootcamp course. You will utilize existing materials to assist with grading submissions in a timely manner and provide feedback to students as they proceed through the course. This is a remote, part-time contract role (average of 10-15 hours per week) with a flexible schedule, reporting to the Outcomes Program Manager. Responsibilities: Evaluate student data science projects, primarily code in Jupyter notebooks, against rubrics - these projects cover a variety of fundamental data science skills and concepts with a focus on student acquisition of course contentProvide written feedback on assignments informed by Springboard’s rubrics and solution sets, feedback will lead to student growthEvaluate student projects in a timely manner to give them quick feedback, your minimum time commitment is ~10 hours per weekCommunicate with student’s mentors to resolve questions, provide clarity on their strengths and weakness, and calibrate on feedback when necessaryEscalate at-risk students through appropriate channels and Program ManagerGraders may need to evaluate presentations for executive, technical, and non-technical audiences (synchronously)Experience: Bachelor’s degree in data science, applied statistics, computation mathematics OR a comparable field or graduation from a comparable bootcamp 1-3 years of grading experience, such as working as a TA in an undergrad or graduate program, or 1-2 years experience in data science industryWorking on a data science masters or doctorate a plusSkills: Excellent data science, machine learning and statistical technical skillsExperience with Python for Data Science - pandas, scikit-learn, SQL and Jupyter notebookKnowledge of Data Collection, Data Cleaning, Data Wrangling, EDA, ModelingKnowledge of Probability, A/B Testing, Hypothesis Testing, Bayesian Inference Statistical Inference, Statistical ModelingGraders must be familiar with machine learning techniques, but need not be expert ML practitioners, including Linear Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forest Modeling, Gradient Boosting, Time Series Analysis, SVM, Classification, Clustering, NLP, Deep LearningKnowledge and experience using tools such as Apache Spark, PySpark, TensorFlow, PowerBI (for presentations) Excellent written communication skillsAbility to give detailed and actionable feedbackAbility to strike a balance between maintaining objective grading baseline and allowing subjective considerationsAbility to meet deadlines within tight timelinesKnowledge in data science industry needs, trends, and employability Possess a growth mindset and be able to receive feedbackBonus: experience working in education, learning development, or edtechCompensation: This role is on a per assignment model of $4.50 per assignment gradedWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
